Lamela: Disappointed To Leave Roma But Looking Forward To Spurs Challenge

Tottenham have completed the signing of AS Roma winger Erik Lamela in a deal worth €30 million plus €5 million in add-ons.

With the departure of Gareth Bale imminent, Spurs sought after Lamela as the ideal replacement for the Welshman. The Argentine was reluctant to leave the Italian club but with Roma in need of the finance from this deal, the player accepted a move to London, “I’m ready for Tottenham, I want do great things for Spurs. And thank you, Roma”.

Tottenham are also set to sign Steaua Bucharest defender Vlad Chichires with the player set to undergo a medical this week.

Willian: Rejected Spurs In Favour Of Chelsea

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Willian from Anzhi Makhachkala, subject to a work permit hearing, for a fee of £30 million.

The 25-year-old Brazilian looked set to join Tottenham after having a medical last Wednesday but the lure of Champions League football was too good for the player to reject. Willian’s transfer from Anzhi to Chelsea was made easy as Blues owner Roman Abramovich is good friends with Anzhi owner and fellow Russian Suleyman Kerimov.

Southampton have confirmed the signing of striker Pablo Osvaldo from AS Roma for a fee believed to be in the region of £15 million.

The striker has signed a four-year deal at St Mary’s, taking the clubs summer spending past the £30 million mark. “Southampton football club is delighted to announce the signing of Italy striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo. The player today agreed terms on a four-year contract with Saints and moves from Serie A side AS Roma.”

West Ham have confirmed the signing of Liverpool winger Stuart Downing on a four-year deal for around £6 million. The Hammers are parting with £1.5 million upfront with the rest of the fee, around £4.5 million, made up of add-ons and bonuses.

The 29 year-old is excited by his move to the Boleyn Ground and hopes that he can earn a place in the England squad for next years world cup,  “I’m very excited. It’s a great opportunity for me being here, it’s a great Club and I’m really excited to get going.  I’m ready and I’m fit for the first game against Cardiff City. I’ve played a decent few games for Liverpool in pre-season, so there will be no problems on that front. It’s all happened quickly, but I’m really excited and hoping to play a part on Saturday.”

Tottenham have signed Roberto Soldado from Valencia for a club-record fee of £26 million. The 28-year-old striker has signed a four-year contract at Spurs after scoring 30 goals in 46 appearances for Valencia last season.  The player  is expected to be available for Tottenham’s final pre-season friendly against Espanyol on Saturday.

A Spurs statement said: “We are delighted to confirm the signing of Roberto Soldado from Valencia after he successfully completed his medical.”

Tottenham are reportedly close to signing Belgian Nacer Chadli for €7 million from FC Twente.

The midfielder has been successsful in his three seasons with FC Twente scoring 21 goals and 11 assists and with the likes of Eden Hazard and Dries Mertens in the National team, it has been hard for Chadi to shine on the big stage. However, a move to Tottenham and the Premier League would give Chadli the opportunity to cement a first team place in the National side for next year’s world cup.
