Downing: Hopes Of Reaching England World Cup Squad

West Ham have confirmed the signing of Liverpool winger Stuart Downing on a four-year deal for around £6 million. The Hammers are parting with £1.5 million upfront with the rest of the fee, around £4.5 million, made up of add-ons and bonuses.

The 29 year-old is excited by his move to the Boleyn Ground and hopes that he can earn a place in the England squad for next years world cup,  “I’m very excited. It’s a great opportunity for me being here, it’s a great Club and I’m really excited to get going.  I’m ready and I’m fit for the first game against Cardiff City. I’ve played a decent few games for Liverpool in pre-season, so there will be no problems on that front. It’s all happened quickly, but I’m really excited and hoping to play a part on Saturday.”

Andy Carroll West Ham’s New Number 9

West Ham have signed Liverpool striker Andy Carroll on a six-year deal. Although the fee is officially ‘undisclosed’, it is believed to be in the region of £15 million with £2 million in add-ons.

Carroll spent last season on loan at the Hammers and was delighted to seal a permanent move, “It’s fantastic for me to be here. I really enjoyed last season, and that shows in me coming back and making it permanent. The fans, the lads and the Club itself has been great to me, and what I wanted to do was come back here and play football. The way the Club’s being run, obviously getting the new stadium and everything like that, it’s only going up.”
