Willian: Rejected Spurs In Favour Of Chelsea

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Willian from Anzhi Makhachkala, subject to a work permit hearing, for a fee of £30 million.

The 25-year-old Brazilian looked set to join Tottenham after having a medical last Wednesday but the lure of Champions League football was too good for the player to reject. Willian’s transfer from Anzhi to Chelsea was made easy as Blues owner Roman Abramovich is good friends with Anzhi owner and fellow Russian Suleyman Kerimov.

Downing: Hopes Of Reaching England World Cup Squad

West Ham have confirmed the signing of Liverpool winger Stuart Downing on a four-year deal for around £6 million. The Hammers are parting with £1.5 million upfront with the rest of the fee, around £4.5 million, made up of add-ons and bonuses.

The 29 year-old is excited by his move to the Boleyn Ground and hopes that he can earn a place in the England squad for next years world cup,  “I’m very excited. It’s a great opportunity for me being here, it’s a great Club and I’m really excited to get going.  I’m ready and I’m fit for the first game against Cardiff City. I’ve played a decent few games for Liverpool in pre-season, so there will be no problems on that front. It’s all happened quickly, but I’m really excited and hoping to play a part on Saturday.”

Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet on a long-term contract.

Mignolet was in fantastic form last season as the Black Cats survived relegation and Liverpool Manager Brendan Rodgers is excited to have captured the Belgian international,  “I am delighted that we have been able to sign one of the top goalkeepers in the Barclays Premier League. Simon will join a club that will give him an opportunity to demonstrate and improve his huge talent.”

Liverpool have signed highly-rated youngster Luis Alberto from Sevilla in a deal worth approximately £6.8 million.

Alberto spent last season on loan at Barcelona B and is a product of Sevilla’s youth system. The youngster is highly rated by Sevilla coach Unai Emery and the clubs hierarchy but the owners delicate financial situation is forcing the sales of any and all prized assets in order t0 raise money.

West Ham In Ba & Lukaku Enquiry

West Ham have contacted Chelsea in the hope of  taking either Demba Ba or Romelu Lukaku on loan next season. The Hammers are keen to land another striker after completing the signing of Andy Carroll, and with Chelsea looking to bring in Edinson Cavani, either Ba or Lukaku will be offloaded.

Andy Carroll West Ham’s New Number 9

West Ham have signed Liverpool striker Andy Carroll on a six-year deal. Although the fee is officially ‘undisclosed’, it is believed to be in the region of £15 million with £2 million in add-ons.

Carroll spent last season on loan at the Hammers and was delighted to seal a permanent move, “It’s fantastic for me to be here. I really enjoyed last season, and that shows in me coming back and making it permanent. The fans, the lads and the Club itself has been great to me, and what I wanted to do was come back here and play football. The way the Club’s being run, obviously getting the new stadium and everything like that, it’s only going up.”
