Willian: Rejected Spurs In Favour Of Chelsea

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Brazilian midfielder Willian from Anzhi Makhachkala, subject to a work permit hearing, for a fee of £30 million.

The 25-year-old Brazilian looked set to join Tottenham after having a medical last Wednesday but the lure of Champions League football was too good for the player to reject. Willian’s transfer from Anzhi to Chelsea was made easy as Blues owner Roman Abramovich is good friends with Anzhi owner and fellow Russian Suleyman Kerimov.

Tottenham have signed Corinthians midfielder Paulinho in a deal worth approximately £15 million.

The Brazilian international revealed during the Confederations Cup that Spurs had made a bid for the player in their quest to achieve a top four finish this season. Paulinho was very happy to seal his move to the Premier League and rejected a number of clubs who offered a better financial deal, “I am very happy and excited to have joined Spurs. It’s a huge pleasure for my career to be at a club as big as Tottenham.”

Tottenham have agreed a £15 million deal with Corinthians for the transfer of Brazilian international Paulinho.

Spurs have not hid their interest in the player, and with Paulinho playing at the Confederations Cup, the deal will be finalised after the tournament.
